How to stop getting notifications to topics without hiding them.....?

A topic that I found interesting is now becoming a crap shoot with people insulting each other and arguing. I don't want to hide the post since it's not the issue. I just want to stop getting notifications.
I tried changing settings and find I don't get the choice to NOT receive any notifications.

As Nuno said - on the notification there is usually a STOP button, bottom right.

One of my favorite buttons.

@Mamapolo2016 Thank you. It's going to be one of my favorite buttons too. I'm not sure what it says about a site when favorite buttons seem to be "block", "hide", "stop", etc... lol

It’s everywhere. It’s the culture. I watch an innocuous YT video, and someone always sets off an argument with personal insults. It’s not only ridiculous, but mars the enjoyment. Same with FB, and other sites. @SW-User

@Carissimi It's something I prefer to not see or hear. I'm tired of all the insults, nasty remarks and arguing and am thinking the only way to avoid a lot of it is to get rid of places that I keep running into it. lol

Same here. @SW-User
@SW-User I doubt there's a social site ANYWHERE that doesn't have this problem.

It says less about the site than the users of the site.

@Mamapolo2016 I think smaller sites without so much added "features" do better....ones where people form a site and help each other watch over it. There's sites out there that took away the down vote and more negative things because it didn't make for a happy place. People are warned and then booted and if found to return with a new account, booted again. lol And many things tolerated on bigger sites are not tolerated on smaller ones....and yes... it says a lot about the people who use a site...what they say and do.
