receptionist: what was the appointment?

me: Getting my hearing aid adjusted and checking my percentage on my right ear.

receptionist: And your left ear is the deaf one,right?

me: yea ma'am

receptionist: so you wouldn't want a consult for a hearing aid on your left side? Or did you want a brochure?

@EllaDisenchanted oh, do hearing aids not work on totally deaf ears? I understand thats probably a really stupid question, but I dont know how all that works.

@Moosepantspatty There's implanted aids that are crazy expensive and surgical. But these are the typical hearing aids that need some minimum percentage of hearing ability to be any use. And my left ear is stone deaf.
