I Hate Being Judged By People That Dont Even Know Me

It seems that people who disagree with your opinions on a posting on SW, or on a certain subject, think they know who or what you are about.

If you answer a question and someone reads your reply and objects, that seems to open emotional floodgates. The same goes for a "hot" topic when you state an opinion or a suggestion. Because you say something which is what you think, people jump all over you and say, "You (are this)", and "You are (that)."You are assumed to be dumb, stupid, crazy, nuts, and a few other descriptive phrases.

If I make a statement, it is my opinion. I am NOT making demands that people think the way I do or agree with what I say. NOBODY agrees with EVERYBODY. I am neither a prude, nor thin-skinned (as some people perceive me to be). I am not a bluenose, either. I know on what side of my bread is buttered and who owns the marmalade. They are willing to share - okay, that's one thing. But that doesn't entitle them to tell me to stick my head in the sand because they read my words a certain way.

SW is a fairly free Social Media place that usually allows you to say just about anything online. As long as it remains so, I will continue to offer my thoughts and opinions. If anyone differs with anything said, let them tell me - and explain why they think so.

Freedom of speech is very important and it used to be highly valued. Its too bad so many people, especially younger ones, dont know how to handle a basic conversation with different opinions. They have been indoctrinated to believe that someone who doesnt fully embrace their view is an evil enemy to be trounced.

@megrose Thanks for supporting me. I just think there is a difference in disagreeing with someone and someone loaded for bear and spoiling for a fight.

Nobody jumped all over Patrick Henry, George Washington, and a few dozen other founding fathers when they fought against certain issues. We were taught from Day One what respect for the other person's opinions and ideas were during the school hours. By the sixth grade (1966)we were already learning how to agree and disagree.

The teachers taught us those values, but they don't do it today. They don't have the time to put into personal dealings. Or they don't know how. Or both. Computers have taken over the hours my teachers actually taught us things. Or discussed daily issues.

Most people can't think for themselves and they get threatened by those who can 😊
