I Need Somewhere To Vent, Without Fear Of Judgement

I am in so much pain it is almost unbearable and no one can help me until Medicare approves or disapproves the MRI my Orthopedic Surgeon ordered!! I can't take anything for the pain until after I have had the MRI either!!

Update: I will be having an MRI on Tuesday! Thank you for all your prayers and kind wishes.

Update: I have had the MRI, X-rays of knees and hips and a lot of bloodwork. Still no answers.

Next will be some nerve tests (EMD) and a visit to a rheumatologist.

Update: The nerve conductive study was done yesterday. I am waiting to hear the results as soon as the report has been written.

Update: I got the results back from the test on Monday. It was great news. My nerves and muscles are all working properly.

Update: I was able to get an earlier appointment to see the rheumatologist on the 4th of March! That is good news.

@MellyMel22 Nerve pain from my waist down to the soles of my feet.

@SweetMae [c=#BF0080]I have had that for many years, more on one side. Have you had an EMG? [/c]
SweetMae · 70-79, F
@MellyMel22 No, not yet.

@MellyMel22 I just look that test up. That would be a good test for me to have.

@SweetMae [c=#BF0080]I can understand them refusing pain killers, but why aren’t they at least letting you try a nerve pain med? It won’t change the mri results! The only two things that even touches that pain for me is Neurontin(Gabapentin) or lumbar traction in physical therapy(but it comes back when therapy stops). You can get a lumbar traction thing at home kinda cheap from bed bath & beyond. I haven’t tried it but I bought it for someone. I’ll look for a link. [/c]

@SweetMae [c=#BF0080]bought this with a coupon whenbit was 59.99 it’s about 20 now I believe. I think most of these stores will take it back if you’re unhappy with it too..[/c]

@MellyMel22 That is the medication they would give me after the MRI. I don't understand why I have to wait.

@SweetMae [c=#BF0080]I’ve had so many I can’t count.. they can sometimes tell more than an mri- always did for me(nervewise).[/c]

@SweetMae [c=#BF0080]That’s BS! It’s not controlled and won’t mess up the mri results. I know it’s known to make people dizzy and sleepy, but they should just clarify that if that’s the concern. If the Dr knows it’s nerve pain I don’t understand why they’d refuse it! [/c]

@MellyMel22 It was not my regular doctor. I am pretty sure he would have ordered the Gabapentin.

@SweetMae [c=#BF0080]But still, it’s a Dr who knows you’re in pain! I get the narcotics worries Drs have, but not this kinda thing. You do need to be very careful with that med though- some are more sensitive than others to it.

I’m not sure it’d help, b/c I’ve never tried it for myself on my lumbar area but I have used Bed Buddy moist heating pads(am literally right now) for years for my trigeminal neuralgia and it helps a bit. Both are nerve related so maybe moist heat will help you while you wait. [/c]

@MellyMel22 Thank you. I have used the most heat, heating pads too.
