Yes and no. Intentionally as a process and plan . Nah, to expensive, complicated and time consuming.
As a by product of consumerism, industry, and bad farming practices? Yes absolutely. There's plastics, pthalates, dioxins, heavy metals, and a whole list of other contaminates in the environment and it anything in the air, water, or soil is in your food. It's not a conspiracy, just a consequence of our practices. Profits and content growth prevent anything from being done about it. It isn't a targeted act, it's just baked in to the way we operate.
Look at the hoolah over GMOs. The GMO isn't the problem, it's what the modification is made to allow. The use of herbicides on the crop which is what the actual harm comes from. But the system deflects from that by riling people up about the genetics and keeps them blind
