I Hate Conflict

I have an unhealthy desire to be liked so I will always avoid conflict. I will always go above and beyond to do favours for other people who always end up hating me. Logically, I know it is bad and I need to change so I am inviting any ideas on how I can get used to being hated so I can get on with standing for my rights!

Just be you. If there are people who don’t respond positively to that, then so be it.

There are likely people who currently dislike you, despite your best efforts. You cannot be everyone’s friends, and neither should you be. It can be emotionally draining to constantly vie for the appeasement of others, and the stress that you carry by feeling you need to do so.

In the immortal words of Christopher Cornell - “To be yourself is all that you can do”.
@SW-User I guess you're right, constantly vieing for the appeasement of others might be more stressful than being disliked.

@Troublebrewing Accepting there is nothing you can do to please everyone is the first step. But a measure of a person can be found in how they react to people who do not like, or even hate them.

I find a person who always shows the utmost respect, regardless of who they’re conversing with, is someone worth knowing. And remember, not everyone is worthy of your time or friendship. Find the people who are.
