I saw something that showed neurodivergent people typically attract other neurodivergents as partners as opposed to neurotypical people

It said those who are on the spectrum typically attract partners who are also on the spectrum as opposed to neurotypical people who typically attract other neurotypical people. It opened my eyes because that's my entire problem. I broke things off with the last person I was seeing because they were autistic on top of other reasons. I'm extremely quiet about it but unfortunately I am also on the spectrum. My case is mild thankfully but I do struggle in life because of it mostly at work.

I honestly hate it and am highly embarrassed by it which is why I refuse to tell potential partners or anyone really. I try really hard to appear normal and just can't see myself being happy with someone who acts like a mirror to my own insecurities.

I'm sorry, you what?

You broke it off with them because they were autistic?

Did you know they were autistic when you started going out with them, or was this some kind of weird sudden adult onset autism I've never heard of?

@ItsMeMorgue They told me that's how I knew.

@FutureIdol And they told you before the relationship began?

@ItsMeMorgue Yes and I did try but wasn't able to be happy.
