Business Trip in the South Sucks

After a week-long business trip in the deep South, I'm eagerly anticipating my return home tomorrow. Admittedly, this isn't exactly my natural habitat, and at times, it almost feels like they're going out of their way to make me feel a tad out of place.

The conversations here often revolve around familiar faces and connections. You'll frequently hear stories about someone's grandma's best friend's boyfriend's neighbor's daughter and their latest addition to the family – a new dog. They'll be like, "no way. I went to high school with her sister!", no duh Susan the entire town has 1500 residents, what do you expect? Now i see why I really dreaded coming here.

I gravitate towards more urban areas. The cities where i can walk into a random bar to grab a drink or catch a bus to go see a show at night. Did i mention here that the town is dry? You cannot buy alcohol here and the internet is slow AF.

I’ve been to business trips to Dallas and New Orleans and San Antonio lately. I seem to meet interesting thoughtful people I’m fortunate.
