I Am a Graphic Designer

No one really just wants graphic designers anymore. I'm learning that Graphic Design is a dying profession.

Everyone just wants ux designers (user experience) amd ui designers (user interface) and assumes every designer knows how to create ui and ux designs.

These are the definitions

Graphic Design: the art or skill of combining text and pictures in advertisements, magazines, or books.

UI Design: User interface design (UI) or user interface engineering is the design of user interfaces for machines and software, such as computers, home appliances, mobile devices, and other electronic devices, with the focus on maximizing usability and the user experience.

UX Design User experience design (UX, UXD, UED or XD) is the process of enhancing user satisfaction with a product by improving the usability, accessibility, and pleasure provided in the interaction with the product. ie making websites user friendly

All of these things are different branches of design. There are degrees that are seperate for each one. I have a graphic design degree.

I thought going to Graphic design school would be profitable. I have always heard it was a prosperous career. Though in reality its UX and UI design thats getting people places in this day in age. Hardly anyone uses print anymore.

Point of story: I'm having a hard time finding a job.

Sounds like youre getting bogged down in job titles rather than the substance.

@SW-User What do you mean?

@Aidan it appears to me graphic design is the core of the other roles, without which those roles would not exist or would not achieve their goals.

@SW-User Well of course, whats your point? All I'm saying is employers expect you to do it all these days. Which is basically having three different professions. And I should've went to school for ui or ux instead of only Graphic Design. I could teach myself I suppose. 🤔 Though would that be substantial?
