Yes, you're not far off there... even in real life these days!

@swirlie you say it is not a joke?

That is correct. Receiving a request from a guy in my inbox here at SW is one thing, but when I get asked if I'd like to see a guy's cock photo on his cellphone while I'm at a dance club in Toronto is how it is now among guys who take dating lessons from their fathers.

No, I mean DID take dating lessons from their fathers. You see, there's a certain male machoism around these days that's been lingering I'm told since the 1980's and any guy who was on the dating scene in the `80's will pass-on to his son the only thing he knows.... and dating evidently isn't one of them, though they try.
Guys don't hesitate to say anything ..or to show pictures of anything, because they seem culturally deficient for some reason. The internet has made most men socially inept, which means they no longer have a reason to get together with friends because they communicate all day long on their cellphones. When they do go out in public, they are like zombies in a crowd of sleeping zombies.

@swirlie I was in the dating scenes in the 80’s and I have not seen that behavior you mentioned. Not with my friends for sure. I think the Internet definitely changed a lot of things and also ruined many.
There is a lot more to it than what we can discuss in this limited comment-style writing
Also, probably we see things differently as we culturally, geographically live far away from each other, not to mention the generations.
But I appreciate your comments and thoughts

You have to remember as well that you wouldn't be privy to how your friends interacted with women anyway, even if you think you know them. Why would one of your friends show a girl his cock photo while you're standing there beside him?

@swirlie I really don’t want to get into argument. I knew my fiends as we talked about women. Also I knew those girls too. As we all knew each other. It was different back then. Very few things were real secret before the Internet.

Yes, you're talking about dating back at a time when there was no such thing as the internet and cellphones hadn't been invented yet. I'm making reference to how things are today if you were on the dating scene with friends.

I am too surprised! I think this is more of a North American 'thing' than a global thing to be honest, because when I go over to Scandinavia to visit family, I don't run into this same kind if social network experience in similar venues my cousins and I frequent.

@swirlie It’s possible. But unfortunately lot of things from America comes to Europe. And not just good ones.
I wish there would be an easy way to bring back respect but things going in the wrong direction

I agree! I think the unaccountability of socializing on the internet is what I'd define as one of those bad things that have come out of it all.
