What does it mean when a guy calls you silly when you flirt with him?

I’m curious my friend told me she was flirting with a guy and that he called he silly. Is that him shutting her down?

I think it all depends on what that means to the guy. If I say that, I'm not telling her to stop anything. I think the only person that can truly answer that and get the correct meaning is from him. The sound of his voice and his body language may even play into deciphering it correctly.
