It's fun, and should never be taken seriously. I know flirting is only word play, and not an invitation.

I haven't followed these serial flirters to find their fate, but I imagine you're right about karma coming for them. Like I said I don't take it seriously; I certainly don't think it's going to lead to something so I don't "follow through" or try to "close the deal". That's for others to handle.
