Who should get the ticket?

Me and my boyfriend broke up recently and prom is 3 weeks away. I bought our prom tickets early because they were a lot cheaper (120 for me because I have a senior contract and just 80 for my date). So I paid for all of it.
When my friend heard I had a ticket, he asked to buy it from me (he willingly will pay 100 bucks). But then my ex would have to pay the current fee of 175 for the ticket, which he claims to not have due to financial struggles. I feel a bit bad because he could have bought a prom ticket earlier if i had not gotten it. But im debating between the two.
