Surely it's a question of quantity rather than simply 'buying you liquor'. If he offers you a gin before dinner that's surely nothing to be concerned about. But if he has a bottle of vodka on the table at dinner and keeps suggesting you drink more then that's a very bad sign and a situation to get out of as soon as possible.
