Having standards is perfectly fine

No idea why so many people get upset when someone has standards. Seriously, it's fine. You're allowed to like what you like, dislike what you dislike, and live your life according to your own morals. Bending over backwards to fit someone else's guidelines will only make you miserable in the long run. So next time someone calls you insecure or impossible to please, remember that you're the only one that can live your life.
