This guy I’m talking to said he only wants to go on a date after we FaceTime. He said “just come up with ideas to talk about beforehand.”

That would be a tiny bit odd. But probably just trying to make sure you get to know each other. It’s not a bad idea, I would prepare questions but I wouldn’t expect someone to say that
