I used to think that I was intimidated by women who made more money than me
But after briefly dating someone who made almost double my salary that I got along with really well (ended for reasons beyond both of our control), I just realized it was their personalities. Also I noticed that this particular woman, unlike the others, didn't work in the corporate finance/law/consulting world, she worked in tech.
This is just a theory, but I feel like due to rampant sexism in most workplaces, a lot of women who become high earners have to acquire some undesirable personality traits just to be able to succeed as well as men in those professions (and this is something we need to change! The sexism I mean). But for women who are high earners due to tech skills which is based on technical skills alone, they don't become as "abrasive" if that makes sense.
