Why would someone reach out ask you out on a date and then when you say yes stop responding?

I finally broke down and messaged them asking if they are okay. They said yes then said we should go out this weekend and I said yes and again no response nothing crickets. Why even ask me out on a date at all and twice and then ghost? It's weird
