What is it called when someone outright denies that their facial expressions carry meaning?

So my mom is this sweet lady, and what I'm saying is she is usually cheerful and doesn't have a negative demeanor. However when I bring up certain topics she can get a very angry look on her face and I ask her if she is okay and she goes back to the cheerful demeanor. For example she wants me to be on disability and when I talk about wanting to get a job a huge cloud of resentment hangs over her because I'm not following her advice. It's very frustrating because I know at times she must be upset yet has never made it known. I used to argue with her a lot because of what I thought wasn't having closure with my father, however I wonder if sub-conciously I actually wanted her to argue back because all she does is be nice and spoil me and not disiciplne me, as I said she does encourage me to get on disability instead of getting a job so there is that.

What disability and does she know you feel this way about her not expressing feelings?

@Miram She wants me to get on disability for mental health issues which even here in NY is hard, I have savings and rather get a job when there is hope then let my money run out and risk being denied disability which is her plan. As far as her not expressing her feelings goes I've discussed it with her several times in person and she continues to say all is ok, it gets unreal because it's normal to feel negative towards your son and she never expressed that. I am thinking I will talk to her on the phone about it because I haven't discussed it on the phone and maybe she will have a different perspective.

@GrayJessie Your thinking is right. Disability money will not help as good as having a job of your own.

Keep searching and applying.

Not sure about where you are but in some places that are social programs which help the disabled get a job. You might want to explore that too just to have more choices to weight.
