How do ye overcome regret on how you treated someone & change your expectations of a potential relationship for the future?

First of all, if you can, apologize to them. Then it's up to them if they accept your apology.
Just be sincere when you apologize.

@BondGirl84 you have to forgive yourself if the other person won’t forgive you. Nothing else can be done. You were human. You have made mistakes. Life goes on.

@SW-User i know ur right, its the forgiving myself bit, i had a bit of a wake up call & realised it was my expectations which has crept up b4 with other guys. thank you tho
