One lady met a guy online and they went on a date.

When they were going home he started to beat her up in the car because the date cost him too much money. Luckily, he stopped the car and dragged her out; that’s when a police officer saw her and rescued her. He beat her up viciously.

That can happen and it's sad. Yet... I know many who met online and years later are still together.
I think people just need to be really careful about trusting someone without much to go on.

It’s sad she trusted the wrong man. He must have been a charmer because he was really ugly. She was an attractive lady herself. @SW-User

@SW-User Charmer or not... rules to follow for safety include not going alone until you have known the person for a while and things check out.
