Why do some people mistreat you in relationships and date you but treat you like trash yet when you break up with them and move on to someone new and

better these same exes that mistreated you try to beg you to come back into their life when they are all alone and sad?

I’m guessing they realise what they’ve lost. But I’ve never understood people who mistreat their partners and then are surprised when they leave. 😳
