Is it racist to raise your children to not date a certain race?

Certainly for my generation it was far more natural for people to date people of their own races but there were exceptions. While it wasn’t exactly frowned upon it was considered unusual. Of course these days things have loosened up a lot more as we live in a multi racial society. Both my children are married within their own race but I was far more concerned they married someone suitable rather than the racial element.
