I have a major request

Guys please don't ask me about my relationship status even if I am united states citizen I am a first generation Indian.
And Indians regardless of religion have an arranged marriage. This is how it works. When young adults are ready they put their profile on an Indian wedding website and if they like the other then theirs a blind date then engagement followed by marriage It really just makes me sad having to tell people

Sounds like a recipe for lifelong misery.

@LeopoldBloom um no, nowadays people are looking for spouses through Indian matrimonial website and meeting them in person and only saying yes if they have the same view and actually like each other. Although there are some divorces. Indian Parents believe in arranged marriages bc of fewer divorce rates, when I have found that divorce rates are about the same
@lizzy96 I realize that in a traditional society, these practices developed for valid reasons. For example, if another farmer's land bordered your own, it would make sense for your son to marry his daughter. It's only when these cultures enter the modern world and children are exposed to different ways of thinking that these practices become senseless and oppressive. So after a few generations, people abandon them. Otherwise, they have to insulate themselves from society, like the Amish, Hasidic Jews, and other groups.
