I have a major request

Guys please don't ask me about my relationship status even if I am united states citizen I am a first generation Indian.
And Indians regardless of religion have an arranged marriage. This is how it works. When young adults are ready they put their profile on an Indian wedding website and if they like the other then theirs a blind date then engagement followed by marriage It really just makes me sad having to tell people

I'm sorry. I wish you could look inside yourself and see independence. I feel bad for those who are subject to bondage. I have no idea how you must feel.

@puck61 Its not really bondage per say its just dad if decide not to do so id most likely be separated from my family and church family friends
@lizzy96 It doesn't sound like freedom, but it is an age old tradition. The change can only come when the shackled brides have had enough.

Shackled is a bit to harsh, but I have a feeling Indias arranged marriage is dying out, India is now allowing acts of romance on the streets on the streets now apparently

@lizzy96 I have a wonderful friend in India named Moksha. She is very independent and successfully runs her own touring business near Manali! It would be nice to see the overwhelming patriarchal and caste systems at least tone down significantly soon. Many Indian men, are violently resisting this movement towards the end of suffrage of Indian women.

@puck61 See and things are improving for women too, slowly India will catch and catch up with the real world
@lizzy96 India is the economic hub of the world, but there are some social discrepancies like any other country. I'm glad India is an ally of the US. I would hope that the US and India would continue to strengthen and grow the relationship we have. I see India as a definite "world power" . India is certainly more powerful than Russia.

@puck61 True and hopefully one day the U.S can step in to stop the sexual abuse of woman and girls that goes unblamed because women are girls are blamed becuase they were "suggestive dressing"
@lizzy96 A draconian hierarchy is hard to overcome because it is often based in religion. Religion is like a nail that secures ideological idiosyncrasies to a culture. People need to learn that God, and the gods want humanity to thrive and be happy, and the subjugation of one sex by another is counter productive to growth and prosperity. It may very well be a woman who masters cold fusion or a cure for cancer. A draconian patriarchy cripples progress.

@puck61 While India is mainly a country that practices hunduism there are Christians that do not disgrace women in India, sadly they are outnumbered by bad Hindus, because there are plenty of good Hindus out there
@lizzy96 I know! I relate to Hanuman! I also love the abstract meaning behind the Upanishads 30 million gods! Hindu is a beautiful religion. I confess that I am prejudiced against 'Islam" even though I know there are plenty of kind and caring Muslims in the world! It's my weakness. It almost seem genetic that I have a kind of negative predisposition towards Islam.
