are dating apps worth it

many many years ago i tried tinder but never got much luck, except with women i didn't like...so i scrapped tinder and just recently another dating app was recommended to me, so i signed up only been using it for about two weeks....and i saw a lot of the features on it you have to pay to use, otherwise the app is rendered useless.... so i'm wondering if i should pay to use the special features...and whether or not i'll have any luck using it?

i'm in my late forties and just want to meet people near me.
