Do you think it's because of online dating/social media, that people feel there are many options out there and don't want to commit?

I have been seeing situationships coming up a lot on social media, has anyone been in or are in one? It is really interesting to see certain people's comments, such as one developing feelings and the other not wanting a relationship but wanting the benefits. It seems like the older days without social media where people dated the traditional way is a thing of the past. Why put yourself in a situation where you will get hurt if you want a real relationship?

Yes. Today is nothing but profit from distraction and single serving everything. People are told by “influencers” to do what makes them happy and quit their jobs. Then told by Big Tech / Big Corporation / Big Foreign Adversary ads to keep buying things and buying into ideals that will hurt them. It’s a downward spinning cycle that will only end with an explosion.

@DefNotTravelguy absolutely 💯

I agree with you.
So, just because I don't pay attention to a lot is a "situation ship" like a relationship you stumble into where you act like partners but you're not?

@Justafantasy It seems to be similar to a friend with benefits setup, so they spend time together etc., it seems like a relationship, sometimes a secret or seems serious when they are together, but apparently not, then at some point maybe one person develops feelings and the other does not and wants to keep things like it is because why get into something serious when the benefit is already there, I assume it's also easy to get away with bad behavior like seeing other people at the same time and then use the excuse of well this isn't a relationship and you knew that from the start etc. Based on people's comments on social media, it happens often, and feelings are hurt. Why put yourself in that situation if your feelings will be hurt?
@Sutten so I think I was in one but it was the opposite of fwb. And I won't deliberately do it again, because it was nice to have someone you feel like a partner with when they're their in the good way of how you get a long like the early stages of a relationship, yet both being in similar parts of life so you still feel like the partner as you're acting like you do with your actual partner minus the criticism and the intention of sleeping together. And yet as soon as you're out of site you don't really exist to each other or barely exist to each other. So yeah, catching feelings sucks and I can make everyone look good or bad depending on who's view of each person I put in.
