Yeah, it's not a good way to find a partner.
I think there is something to getting to know someone slowly, in the background of your life, that makes a lot of sense. It's a much easier way to find a prospective partner, as you get some form of vetting... seeing how they treat other people, what their interests are, what their sense of humour is like... etc.
