@fun4us2b They had their reasons why, many modern paradises in the past were nightmares at one time. In the South Pacific the Polynesians were constantly at war with each other, head hunting and cannibalism were common, in the Caribbean and Bahamas there was piracy post 16th century, and cannibalism and head hunting between tribes as well.

@NativePortlander1970 Yup - my understanding is that they had no jobs, no money, no food...other than that it was nice 😅
@fun4us2b Poverty was definitely a factor for many as well.

@NativePortlander1970 Dickens among others was great at describing poverty in a way we can still understand.
@fun4us2b He definitely did, there was no escaping its presence during the Victorian era.
