Taking a vow of silence’

So the wedding I’m going to sounds lovely , 3 course meal too which I wasn’t expecting to go to but I got a text yesterday asking me what I like to eat so I kindly responded and said I was really looking forward to it … you know all that gushy stuff lol

Anyhow now I’m thinking who am I gonna be sat next to , what can I talk about… do I learn some corny jokes ? … take my phone out and share some funny memes?

Ugh I’m gonna have to think of something without going into too much detail about my private life but in a room full of happy people all getting drunk it’s not gonna be smooth sailing

Will I be perfectly poised if someone asks how I am or will I have to change the subject pronto and discuss international news headlines as a radical distraction for fear of crying

So yeah would be great if I never had a voice at this ceremony bc in all honesty it’s felt as though I haven’t had one from all the emotional ear bashing I’ve experienced this year

Even just to be seen at this special occasion is leaving me feelings overwhelmed

Here is one other suggestion that might help. Ask questions to the people sitting next to you.

People love to talk about themselves and even if all you do is ask them questions and allow them to "Blah, Blah, Blah" all night about themselves, they will think that you are a brilliant conversationalist.

They are doing the whole winter scene / chapel shaboodle it will be beautiful I’m sure , just feeling a little anxious is all … it’s been a rough last two months for me personally and small talk is just awkward plus I’m driving there so I’m not gonna drink ~ I’m gonna be thinking about my kitten for sure … hopefully she’ll be snoozing the whole time I’m away , I would hate to think something happens to her while I’m sat stuffing my face 🥺

@ThreeLittleBirds i always thought a winter wedding would be beautiful, but im a freak, and i actually enjoy the cooler temperatures , and i find blankets of snow and icecicles very ornamental .

That being said, i completely understand the awkwardness of some social events, and particularly, weddings 🤦‍♂ Not being able to wash the whole experience down with a few sociables 🍺🍺🍺 and pour myself out of there asap? Id be a wreck 🤷‍♂ I know you"ll do a lot better than i would though, and im sure you have not a thing to worry about, and...the great thing about cats ( we have two) is they are pretty self sufficient , and we like to think they knead us ( and they do 🤭) as much as we need them, but they dont, so your kitty will be fine i bet, and ready to comfort you when you arrive home safe and sound.

Take a mannequin as your +1. Talk to it the whole time, me being able to sit and not jump up yelling "DON'T DO IT!!!" Would be an accomplishment right now
