She is hoping to start pointe work soon, her demi pointe dancing is very good and she has been in a couple of the dance school productions already. I got into pointe work when I was dancing, with a Neapolitan ballet school not far from my school, which a friend’s mother used to accompany us both to, since my mother was unable to get away from her work to take me.
Chiara is a graceful dancer and she always gets a commendation from her teacher in class, and is asked to show her fellow students the move the teacher wants them to do (in centre work). She wears leggings and woolly leg warmers while warming up, like I used to, and strips them off as she feels she needs to, so her teacher can see her movements and extension.
The teacher is a very fine dancer herself, teaching the Cecchetti method of ballet dance. Class is usually about ninety minutes long and there is an adult class directly afterwards in which those capable do pointe work.
