being great at dancing is kind of a waste of time
Have you ever noticed this? There are all these shows about dance contests and none of those people are household names. Also the people dancing always takes second place to the music. Nobody ever saw a music video and thought regardless of the music, "wow but that one dude in the back can dance!".
Also think about cheerleaders. Nobody cares about their dance and it is hilarious too because they spend hours upon hours practicing some coordinated dance nobody cares about. If they just showed up waved some furry pom poms around in a short skirt people would like them just the same.
So many people invest so much time and energy into dancing and it actually never really amounts to anything besides, "oh cool" and usually not even that. People only notice dancing in anything when someone dances badly it seems.
