During an age when the King of France was called Le Roi Soleil and all the consequential people were still speaking French, the King's Ballroom was designed and created by André Le Nôtre between 1680 and 1685 in the gardens of Versailles. It was a green amphitheater with waterfalls, originally intended for dance parties.
