I Love Cycling
On the screen of my phone, Google maps notifies me that the time it will take to drive home from work is 1 hour and 4 minutes.
Over an hour of sitting in traffic, stopping, starting, filtering, breathing in fumes. Driving is not a pleasure.
But, I'm not driving, I have my bike. I will be home in 35 minutes.
Cycling equals freedom. Riding along the river path, as I warm up, my speed goes up. I'm in the zone. On the edge of hurt, at peace with the world.
Nearing home, I cross an overpass, the dual carriageway below, absolutely full of hardly moving cars and vans. They will get home eventually, drained and exhausted.
