I Love Cycling

I think my family and friends think I'm nuts going cycling on my own but I love the challenge of getting to places on my own pedal power. Off road trails are especially favourite. I'm getting good fitness back now and want to do even longer journeys.

Anybody here done a UK to Europe tour. I know they say 70 miles a day over a week is standard. Have you done it, how did you find it? I want to plan something before I'm past it and the knees seize up.

Bicycling is fun I have not been there but 2 years ago in the USA I rode part of the ( east coast greenway) from Maine to Connecticut and back . Plus side trips 馃槀 I was gone for a month and averaged over 75 miles a day. It was awesome. I was over 60 then and I was on my own little trip .

@Repete Wow! That's fantastic. I bet you have some brilliant memories and great photos. What an achievement. Did you camp with a tent that you carried or pitch up in motels, or both? Love to know type of bike etc.

@Ironicman yes I carried a tent and a small stove and every thing I needed . Mostly tented at campsites a few times tented in the woods along the way and about every 4 days stayed at a hotel or something like that to take care of things that needed to be done. I do have many memories and pictures . I have a Trek bike mountain bike that's about 30 years old I got at a yard sale 10 years ago. I'll see if I can come up with some pictures .

@Repete definately, i would love to see some pics. It will inspire me. You cant beat a trek. In fact ive just got off mine after a 30 mile ride to London and was thinking it still rides like new after 6 years and about 5000 miles. Very well built.
