The slaughter of the buffalo is an unbelievable crime against man and nature. The slaughter was encouraged simply because it would hurt the native people.

@CountScrofula It wasn’t encouraged, it was planned. They had army companies that would go hunt them.
They hired hunters to go get the buffalo.
They had “hunting” tours to go on trains.
It was a big part of how the US finally defeated the Indians.
That and the US Army.
The Indian Wars were before the US was formed and continued into the 1920s.
