I Am Irish

We are, Northern Irish but we still count that as Irish.
Well we are Irish all the way through, all born here for generations, mum raised us that way loving the positive side of our culture and avoiding the religious and historical hatred crap which she says has to end because the haters have swamped our culture with that stuff for too long to the point where that's all there is.

It's a long tragic history the day Oliver Cromwell exerted a cruel power following the defeat of the Irish Confederacy in 1652. It's not that it was a defeat it was the atrocities he allowed to occur as a way of punishing the Irish Catholic and the Penal Laws that displaced them from their homes. It began a 300 year long suppression of human rights, indignities, famines, and tribulation. My kin were mostly from Wexford with roots from the Vikings that colonized. Our men made up a large part of the Irish Confederate Army. To this day, in America, our clans have a huge potluck and dance on the weekend closest to September 3....the day the despicable tyrant passed on.
