I Am Indian
This bugged for a long time... are Indians actually Asians? I mean India is in Asia. So Indians are technically Asians too.

I can't tell you the origins, per say, but they were not called Indians for that reason. When Christopher Columbus came to America searching for India, he mistook the natives to be people from India; Indians.
Personally I prefer the term Native American, as a native myself.
