My parents are loving, and still married despite the trails of most marriages these days, Mum says! They have had their arguments but that's a natural thing by culture. Mum is French, Dad is Belarusian. They have never had a screaming row in front of me!
France has it's problems, especially with Muslims burning down our churches, and murdering our priests! It was Monday, under the sign of Pisces, the day I was born. The US president was Bill Clinton, the UK Prime Minister was Tony Blair, Pope St John Paul II was leading the Catholic Church. In that special week of March people in US were listening to Say My Name by Destiny's Child. In UK Pure Shores by All Saints was in the top 5 hits. Price of Glory, directed by Carlos Ávila, was one of the most viewed movie released in 2000 while Tough Cookie by Diane Mott Davidson was one of the best selling book.
Our home is in the Cinquième. The arrondissement, also known as Panthéon, is situated on the Rive Gauche of the River Seine. It is one of the capital's central arrondissements. The arrondissement is notable for being the location of the Quartier Latin, a district dominated by universities, colleges and prestigious high schools since the 12th century when Sorbonne University was created. It is also home to the National Museum of Natural History and Jardin des plantes in its eastern part.
The 5th arrondissement is also one of the oldest districts of the city, dating back to ancient times. Traces of the area's past survive in such sites as the Arènes de Lutèce, a Roman amphitheatre, as well as the Thermes de Cluny, a Roman thermae.
You live in a beautiful part of the world. To be able to walk in the footsteps of history and observe what others have seen many centuries before you must indeed be wonderful!
