Question for Canadians

I just read that Poilievre’s stance includes Criminal background checks for Canadian student visa holders.

Is this something that wasn’t done before for international students?

My daughter is an international student in Europe and had to get one done

Everyone I knew was checked. I think he’s uninformed here. I work with loads of students and they had to.
