Chrystia Resigned! Will Justin Resign This Afternoon?

LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
Funny. How he bragged about appointing her as first woman in her position and then fires her three days later.

I have no use for either of them. Time to clean house!

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. She's been the Minister of Finance for the past 4 years, ffs's!

I guess the truth doesn't get all the way out to Alberta, eh?

I hear the chattering classes in Ottawa saying that Justin is looking for a snowstorm to walk in....
@hippyjoe1955 He AIN'T his father!🤣
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Guardian You are correct. I wonder if Fidel even knew that snow exists.
Sapio · 51-55, M
That would be a joyous moment for Canadians. But I doubt the narcissistic POS will step down.
Lilymoon · F
@Sapio yeah we're not that lucky 😑
Sapio · 51-55, M
@Lilymoon no, unfortunately, we are not

I remember an American getting angry with me here because he thought I shouldn't have an opinion on American politics. "what do you care?".Well this crisis is in some part about the world instability and possible economic disaster because of Trumps tarrif threats. Trump is threatening to crush all his friends and allies
FoolishLuna · 56-60, F
@JimboSaturn time will tell….

The reason Chrystia Freeland was not invited to Mara Largo with Trudeau is because she is the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada. If Trudeau travels outside Canada, the Deputy Prime Minister stays back in Canada to act as temporary Acting PM under the direction of the Governor General in the event of an untimely death or illness of the Prime Minister while out of the country.

In Chrystia Freeland's particular case, she held two government positions simultaneously, 1) she was the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada and 2) she was the Minister of Finance. Typically in the Canadian political system, you are one or the other but not typically seen holding two distinct positions simultaneously like Freeland was otherwise doing.

If she were NOT the Deputy PM, she could have traveled to Mara Largo with Trudeau because she was the Minister of Finance and dealt directly with NAFTA matters involving Trump during his first run as POTUS 1.0 and was poised for Trump 2.0 in dealing with Trade negotiations between Canada and the USA.

But because she is the Deputy PM, she could not go to Mara Largo if Trudeau decided that he wanted to go too! Therefore, either Trudeau could go or Freeland could go, but both of them could not go together to the USA, nor could they both travel on the same airplane together to get to the USA!

They would have to take separate flights, just like they both do anytime they both meet in some Province in Canada. Taking separate airplane flights is standard protocol for them when traveling within Canada to the same destination, but when one travels outside Canada, the other has to stay back and mind the store.

The reason that LaBlanc got the job as Minister of Finance was because Freeland and Trudeau fundamentally disagreed on how Canada should be responding to Donald Trump's threat against Canada with tariffs.

Trudeau's position is that Trump is bluffing, whereas Freeland's position is that Trump intends to imposed 25% tariffs on Canadian goods entering the USA, at which point Freeland was dismissed from her portfolio as Finance Minister because her and Trudeau could no longer work together on this issue and she was offered something else which she declined to take because she said it was a demotion.

Following that conflict, she resigned as Minister of Finance and then immediately resigned from Trudeau's cabinet, both resignations taking place today, Dec 16th.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@swirlie So true. In the resignation letter she outlined how the finances needed to be firm to combat Trumos tarriffs. I see your point about the deputy prime minister not being with the PM
FoolishLuna · 56-60, F
He will drag his feet and cost Canadians more money and then step down. I bet they take the Holiday break to regroup.
Cross your fingers! ABJT!💜🤣
@Jenny1234 Stay tuned for tonight's news!

hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M

JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@BrandNewMan Its a political earthquake
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
Yes the liberal party is imploding.
FoolishLuna · 56-60, F
@JimboSaturn and their timing is going to screw CDNs and cost us even more!!
Or stay and prorogue Parliament?
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
The only finance minister without any financial training!
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Exactly!! From drama teacher to prime minister because of his name!
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Quimliqer Drama teacher to kiddie diddler to sexual assaulter to Prime Minister via the WEF.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Quimliqer I think Freeland is a highly competent mimister. She was one of the rock stars hence the importance of her resignation and what message it sends
DownTheStreet · 56-60, M
Not as long as he believes he’s the messiah
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@DownTheStreet Sadly you are right. Justin believes he is Prime Minister by divine right.
DownTheStreet · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 he learned it as a drama teacher
