Well I live here so I think it’s pretty great except for the Winter 😭😭😭
@iamonfire696 okay, okay. maybe I believe your country is real. *giggles*
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@DarkHeaven come here when it’s -50 C freeze your tits off and you will know it’s real. Thats -58 F by the way 🤭
@iamonfire696 it doesn’t quite get that cold where I live in the US but it can get as low as the low negative 20s and around negative 30’ish with windchill at the worst. But usually it’s around negative teens in the winter. I love the winter but I’m not sure I’d love quite that cold. My Da was born in Iceland and he says it gets colder than where we are here in the US but I believe Canada is colder than there or anywhere. Winter can be magical for me but not at the tit freezing neg 58. lol

What’s the winter for? To remember love. — Theodore Roethke

Vetrarhugur

Það hefur gránað
í fjöll,
og haustvindarnir
æða naprir
milli húsa.
Samt hlakka ég
til komandi vetrar.
Þegar áin streymir
milli skara,
og raddirnar
berast óravegu
í stillunum
milli
okkar tveggja,
í mánuðinum
með járnnafnið.
Þegar orðin eru
einsog kalt stál
og það er málmbragð
milli tanna.

Winter Thoughts

The mountain
has turned grey,
and autumn winds
whip sharply
between buildings.

Yet I look forward
to the coming winter.

When rivers channel
through border ice
and voices carry
far away
in the stillness,

between
us,

in the months
with iron names
when words are
like cold steel,

and leave a metallic
taste between my teeth.

@DarkHeaven i once heard international falls mn can get the coldest temperatures...other than maybe the arctic
@beermeplease see… Narnia. lol
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@DarkHeaven that’s a beautiful poem. My great grandma was born in Iceland and she said it never got as cold as it does here.
@DarkHeaven i don't know what narnia is. if i do a google search it tells me it's a series of books
@iamonfire696 yeah. I just looked it up and coldest day on record was -39.5%F and for Canada coldest is -84%F. That’s a huge difference. Both are colder than where I am but Reykjavik benefits from the warming influence of the Atlantic Ocean, although the Polar Tundra climate keeps Iceland perpetually cold, with chilly summers around 50°F. So it never really get super warm… even in summer.
@beermeplease it’s a fake country in those books. I’m just teasing you and saying Canada ain’t real. Sorry. 😂
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@DarkHeaven I would not like a summer that wasn’t warm. I live for the hot summers. It gets me through winter 🤣.
@beermeplease I know it’s real. I’ve great friends there. I’m just being a butt. lol
@iamonfire696 even though where I am we can get low neg 20’s F, we also can get triple digit weather in the summers at over 100’s F. My part of the US is really bipolar. lol 😂
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@DarkHeaven it can get that hot here too which is crazy.
@iamonfire696 that is wild. lol
@iamonfire696 Snag, Yukon Territory is apparently the coldest part of Canada.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@DarkHeaven yah it’s cold up there and everything costs so much money in the North, it’s insane.
@iamonfire696 I bet. They can keep their shit. We’ll stay where it’s warmer. lol
@iamonfire696 Have you lived in Canada your whole life?
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@DarkHeaven I have and I have lived in Manitoba my whole life. I want to live where it’s warm but family obligations don’t allow for that 😭
@iamonfire696 I’ve lived in my area of the US my entire life too. I’ve visited a few other states but never lived and never been outside of the US to even like Canada or Mexico ever. I’ve got dreams of visiting Iceland and Ireland but I’m not gonna hold my breath.
@DarkHeaven you gotta visit canada at least once in your life...do you know what province is closest to you?
@beermeplease Manitoba and Ontario are apparently the closest.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@beermeplease looks like she’s closer to me 🤭
@DarkHeaven im on the west coast...it's a little greener and mountainous and we have an ocean. and our mosquitos aint as big... but there's some pretty spots there too
@iamonfire696 yep... 😋
