@iamonfire696 it doesn’t quite get that cold where I live in the US but it can get as low as the low negative 20s and around negative 30’ish with windchill at the worst. But usually it’s around negative teens in the winter. I love the winter but I’m not sure I’d love quite that cold. My Da was born in Iceland and he says it gets colder than where we are here in the US but I believe Canada is colder than there or anywhere. Winter can be magical for me but not at the tit freezing neg 58. lol
What’s the winter for? To remember love. — Theodore Roethke
Vetrarhugur
- English translation Winter Thoughts
The mountain has turned grey, and autumn winds whip sharply between buildings.
Yet I look forward to the coming winter.
When rivers channel through border ice and voices carry far away in the stillness,
between us,
in the months with iron names when words are like cold steel,
and leave a metallic taste between my teeth. — MAGNÚS SIGURÐSSON
@iamonfire696 yeah. I just looked it up and coldest day on record was -39.5%F and for Canada coldest is -84%F. That’s a huge difference. Both are colder than where I am but Reykjavik benefits from the warming influence of the Atlantic Ocean, although the Polar Tundra climate keeps Iceland perpetually cold, with chilly summers around 50°F. So it never really get super warm… even in summer.
@iamonfire696 even though where I am we can get low neg 20’s F, we also can get triple digit weather in the summers at over 100’s F. My part of the US is really bipolar. lol 😂
@iamonfire696 I’ve lived in my area of the US my entire life too. I’ve visited a few other states but never lived and never been outside of the US to even like Canada or Mexico ever. I’ve got dreams of visiting Iceland and Ireland but I’m not gonna hold my breath.
@JustGoneNow im on the west coast...it's a little greener and mountainous and we have an ocean. and our mosquitos aint as big... but there's some pretty spots there too
