A disappointed Canadian

for all the aid my country sent to Turkey after the earthquake there and all
the time we flew military transport planes to Southern States affect by hurricane
flooding Canada did send any military transport planes of provision and personnel
to help New Zealand after Cyclone Gabrielle. I'm so disappointed in my government
I mean I get the emotional response.

Deployments domestically are much simpler and can often be done by local reserves with further manpower and equipment as needed.

Welcome the US is certainly noble but there are are individual bases with more people than our entire military combined.

To help in places overseas like New Zealand we have Dart with a grand total of one team of 200 people based on current info.

We are not the third largest force like in 1945 anymore.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow are you trying to tell me Turkey is not overseas?
that brings me to another disappointment that we don't spend the minimum 2 % GDP on military as required by NATO or we might have more leopard tanks a Navy that doesn't suck (no supply ship) and might be able to buy more than 88 warplanes from the USA. with how little we spend on our armed forces I don't
how we haven't got kicked out of NATO
@Snowbirdfan2 All of that shit is a waste of money and NATO is another topic.

Think it through. Disasters happen everywhere, all the time every day. How long do you think one unit of 200 people would last on constant deployment to every disaster that makes the news?

military preparedness is a waste it's cause it's your kind of think why we were unprepared for when both world wars broke out
