I Am British

I love the Six Nations rugby championship. Not because I'm that bothered about the rugby, but because it brightens up the bleakest month of the year and brings my family together.

Yesterday, for Wales vs England, it was me, my dad and my dad's best friend, who is English. I lit the fire well in advance so the living room was roasting hot by the start of the match. I made pizza to eat in front of the TV.

For the match I sat between the two men, because my dad likes to pretend that he cannot speak or understand English on these occasions! So I had to act as interpreter, which is really good for my simultaneous translating skills. I learnt new words (mainly rugby jargon) as the match went on, and I had to edit some of what my dad said so his friend would not be offended 🙄 All good practice.

The match was really close and exciting. Wales lost narrowly, about 4 minutes from the end, but then my dad remembered how to speak English again and there was no ill feeling 🤗

If I had been there you would have heard some things until the end of the game then we would all have shaken hands & wished each other the best for the next game
