Theyy are not doing themselves any favours by rules like that, although I can understand it because the greedy banks shamelessly take a cut of the payments by card, for the same retail price; and the profits on drinks sales are already very slender..
I do know one pub that has is and always been cash-only.

Boo! I don't like ANYONE being able to track my purchases, be it the government, card companies, banks, or marketers.
Not sure why businesses would want this, as it makes government taxation too easy (not that I wouldn't report all business income to the government, or course 😁)
