devonman · 61-69, M

Regular taxi driver picks me up every week and says.
‘ Train station guv ? ‘
I always reply ,
‘ No mate , the Railway Station ‘ 😂

"I'm sittin' in the railway station
Got a ticket for my destination."

Railway Station sounds more pleasing.
devonman · 61-69, M
@StarLily Most town still have a road sign directing drivers to ' Railway Station'
StarLily · 51-55, F
@devonman That's cool. Probably silly, but there's something intriguing/romantic-like in my eyes about a "Railway Station"... it's not something common in my neck of the woods.
supersnipe · 61-69, M
I wasn't aware that it had! 🙄
devonman · 61-69, M
@supersnipe I still use the term Railway Station. We don't have Plane Ports.
Carissimi · 70-79, F
I didn’t know it had changed. I used them interchangeably when I lived in the days when I used trains a lot.

Would like to know that myself , was it when steam started to disappear?
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
Could it be a way of distinguishing between commercial and passenger trains?
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
Maybe to keep away folks expecting the arrival of a handcar.

When the signage cost per letter got it out hand.
