I Am British

The differences between American and British etiquette always intrigue me. For instance, if I bump into someone by accident, I say sorry, if someone trips over or knocks sth, I say sorry whether I had sth to do with it or not...and my American friends' response is always "oh it's okay it's not your fault" ... like yes, I know it's not my fault.. It's just THE THING TO SAY... 馃槉

I never comment like that if I bump into someone. I always say, "I'm so sorry, excuse me". I'm an American who was brought up with manners.

@SW-User what if you see someone trip over sth?

I would ask them "are you okay, do you need help"?@Reemar

@SW-User I've noticed that as well.. the usual Brit response would (usually) be "Sorry.. "
