We’re living in strange times

I am posting this in addition to a post I posted the other day where billboards had the words “get married” “reproduce”

Amazon is one of the largest companies in the world by revenue it’s actually the third. Amazon does not pay taxes and Amazon is now in the transitional state of replacing 75% of warehouse manufacturing labor with robots.

In my honest opinion it hurts the overall economy for two reasons 1. Amazon is not paying taxes therefore they’re not contributing and 2 by disrupting the labor market people aren’t getting paid meaning all of that revenue will not go back into the economy it goes entirely to Amazon

What is your reaction to that?

It’s sad to see so many jobs being automated!! I feel sorry for the ones who lost their employment!!

@Quimliqer it started slowly… first it was ATMs, then self check out machines. At first I thought people were overreacting when they said robots would replace humans.

But as time goes by “they” were right 😭

@DeluxedEdition Sadly here in Canada the service sector is made up of immigrants whose first language is not English and their accents make it difficult to communicate with them. When I deal with a person behind a till very often the order is wrong. When I deal with a robot seldom is the order wrong. I am not trying to complain but I do get frustrated when my order is not correct.
