people are getting more rude

I went on a solo trip today, my friend who is my walking talking GPS didn't come with me, anyways I told myself no worries I can use Google maps, sadly it didn't work either, so I went to the information center who told me that Google maps don't work here and to take this confusing old actual maps, unfortunately I wasn't able to follow that one either, I told myself no worries I can ask people, Every time I ask someone they either give me wrong information or act rude like they don't want to answer, I asked this old Indian lady that looked like a tourist about directions and she told me I don't understand your language while laughing! I was like what do you mean I am speaking English and she pointed me at other elderly people to ask, to be honest most of the people there were very old and just wanted to sit and watch birds or something, I regretted going alone, eventually I found my own way after being stranded for hours with little water and food.
