It's weird how we all agree it's unacceptable to hate an entire race or ethnicity for the actions of a bad few, but misanthropy is socially accepted

I get what you're saying; it's far more acceptable to say you hate humanity than to say you hate a subset of humanity.

Being a misanthrope isn't really conducive to caring about how people are treated. But tbh misanthropy just seems like edgy angst more than a genuine political or social position.

@SW-User yeah and to be clear I support the double standard. Honestly most misanthropes are perfectly altruistic, though I agree that it's not a great thing in itself.
